An idea had been percolating in my mind for the last week or two: I should write a blog post about quality in medicine borrowing from the concept in the book Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance. This afternoon I sat down to start writing, but then I thought, I wonder what ChatGPT would do with this. So I typed in the following on my iPhone:

There is a lot of worry that AI will make writers and journalists obsolete. I was certainly impressed that the response to the task I gave the app appeared instantly. And it was an impressive essay.
BUT, the writer, the software, the man behind the curtain (Wizard of Oz) has no personality. And I think and hope that people here on Substack appreciate the personal angle, the voice of the writer and the consistency and continuity from post to post, revealing more and more of each writer.
